Hello there!
I’m writing to let
you know of an opportunity I have been given to work with a newly-launched
Christian gap year program called Worldview at the Abbey located in CaƱon City,
Colorado.
Worldview at the
Abbey is an integrative academic program with a vision to train students (ages
seventeen to twenty-two years old) to think and live in accordance with a Biblical
worldview. Specifically, Worldview Academy faculty such as Jeff Baldwin and Bill
Jack teach English/writing, history/literature, worldview/apologetics and
politics/economics over the course of two semesters. More information on these
courses is located at http://www.worldviewbridgeyear.com/. Experiencing a Socratic approach to
education, the students actively participate in the learning process and spend
much of the class time discussing ideas presented in assigned readings.
Although this bridge-year program is very academic, it is more than gaining
head knowledge.
A major part of
the program is hands-on service to the community, team-building leadership
practicums and the cultivation of a personal relationship with God and neighbor.
Worldview at the Abbey prepares students for college—what is often seen as the
formidable foe to young students’ faith. Before
entering university English/History/Psychology/etc. courses, those who graduate
from the Abbey will have already read, heard and pondered the foundational
ideas lurking behind their professors’ incongruent statements. Equally important,
Abbey students will have practiced tools helpful in self-instruction and persuasive
communication.
Worldview at the Abbey
is a place where students are trained to unravel ideas to their core and expose
their historically faulty foundations with grace and gentleness—a place where
students are trained to love God with heart, soul, mind and strength and to
love people self-sacrificially. In summary, Worldview at the Abbey proactively
equips students to positively impact the college campus and wherever they
venture.
My job at the
Abbey will be to mentor the female students and lead a weekly Bible study with
them. While living life and seeking Christ with the girls, I will have the
opportunity to love, encourage and challenge them.
Please pray for
me, the leadership team I will be joining and the students that will be coming.
Pray we would have wisdom and discernment, submissive hearts and clear
direction, safety and favor.
If you are
interested in partnering with me financially, please see below for
details. Know you may contact me for more information about Worldview at the
Abbey and what my role will entail. Also, check my blog (http://hannahgabriellesharp.blogspot.com/) for updates. Thank you very much for
taking time to read this letter.
Sincerely,
